Subject: chords:New Kid On the Block by Barenaked Ladies
This is a funny and fun song by what is becoming my favorite band the
more I listen to them. The basic structure of the song is verses
alternating between Em and C major, and the chorus following a G-Am-F
progression. I'm probably way off on some of the lyrics, but hopefully
you get the idea.
Em C
I didn't ask to be famous
Em C
But I'm not sore
Em C Em C
You can see my face in the window of every store
Em C
You can buy my lunch box
Em C
You can wear my clothes
Em C Em C
You can see my name its as plain as the face under your nose

CHORUS:
G Am F
I'm a new kid on the block
G Am F
Well I may not be Johann Sebastian Bach
G Am F
And we may not write the songs we sing
G Am F
But look at Elvis he sold his soul and you crowned him king
EM C
I DIDNT ASK TO BE FAMOUS
EM C
BUT IM NOT SAD
EM
YA SEE IVE GOT EVERYTHING THAT I ALWAYS WISHED I HAD
IN FACT ME MIND IS TIRED
IM TIRED OF SCREAMING GIRLS
I THANK MY HAIRDRESSER FOR
GIVING ME SUCH BEAUTIFUL CURLS
NOW IM A NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
WELL IM 23 AND THEY WONT LET ME GROW UP
I WENT DOWN TO REGISTER FOR THE DRAFT
WELL I GOT UP TO THE COUNTER AND
THE LADY THERE JUST LAUGHED
CHORUS:
SHE SAID YOUR A NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
YOUNG GIRLS AND OLD BOYS MOCK
WELL YOU BROKE MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTERS HEART
WELL I KNEW YOU KIDS WERE TROUBLE FROM THE START
I DIDN'T ASK TO BE FAMOUS,BUT I'M NOT SURE
THAT WERE AS APPLE PIE AS YOU ALWAYS THOUGHT WE WERE
I CAN STAY UP ALL NIGHT,I CAN HAVE A BLAST
I CAN BREAKDANCE,I CAN FIGHT,I CAN KICK YOUR SORRY ASS
I'M A NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
AND THOUGH I MAY NOT BE JOHANN SEBASTION BACH
THERES NO NEED TO BE AFRAID OF US
THOUGH IT JUST MIGHT BE YOUR DAUGHTER ON OUR BUS
