This version is different than the others submitted because it was
transcribed in Two-Different Keys - this way the performer can choose
(almost on the fly) which version works better for their voice. The
performer can also change keys in the middle of the song, for a bit
of a change. Also, some of the lyrics are a bit different than normal.
I use to play this song in a traditional Irish band called BarleyJuice.

Long Black Veil
[Intro][C][G][F][C] {Alt Intro}(G)(D)(C)(G)
[ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/m/misc-traditional/12543.html ]
C(G)
Ten years ago, on a cold dark night,
G(D) F(C) C(G)
there was someone killed 'neath the town hall light.
C(G)
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
G(D) F(C) C(G)
that the man who ran looked a lot like me.
------------------------------------------------
[CHORUS]
F(C) C(G) F(C) C(G)
She walks these hills in a long black veil.
F(C) C(G) F(C) C(G)
She visits my grave while the night wind wails.
C(G) F(C) C(G) F(C) G(D) C(G)
Nobody knows, Nobody sees, Nobody knows but me.
------------------------------------------------
C(G)
The judge said "Son, what is your alibi?
G(D) F(C) C(G)
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die."
C(G)
Well, I said not a word, though it meant my life
G(D) F(C) C(G)
For I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife.
------------------------------------------------
[CHORUS]
------------------------------------------------
C(G)
The scaffold was high, and eternity neared
G(D) F(C) C(G)
She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear.
C(G)
But sometimes at night, when the cold wind blows
G(D) F(C) C(G)
In a long black veil, she cries over my bones.

[CHORUS]2x

C(G) F(C) C(G) F(C) G(D) C(G)
Nobody knows, Nobody sees, Nobody knows but me.
