This sounds best if you fingerpick through it. If you're not used to fingerpicking, this is a good song to practice with. The G-A-C chord progression at the beginning of each verse/chorus is optional; it just adds to the song a bit. You don't have to play the full chord with each of those, just the root note. You can also play C-B-Am when transitioning to the Am on the third line of every verse/chorus. It sounds like he does that in the recording.
