This is a fantastic song, that's pretty simple to play. Sexton plays this song in a bunch of different ways, alot of time in open G, but this is version I've seen him play that is really simple and doesn't require re-tuning your guitar. D x-x-0-2-3-2----------| (hammer on the A note the first beat of every bar) Cadd9 x-3-2-0-3-3-| G/B x-2-0-0-3-3-| Verse: D Met an old friend last night, had a cup of coffee D We talked about all the things that had been going on D We talked about the old days, we talked about the new days D Cadd9 G/B We talked just about anything but what was really going on [ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/m/martin-sexton/72261.html ] D After ten long minutes that slowly passed us by D The tension in the air I could cut it with a knife D Staring out the window and gazing at the menu D Caad9 G/B Suddenly he called my name and he looked me in the eye Chorus: Cadd9 G/B D He said, I don't know where I'm going and I don't know where I've been. Cadd9 G/B D And there's one long road that I traveled just to see you again. Cadd9 G/B D I said I don't know where I'm going, I don't know where I've been. Cadd9 G/B D And it seems I got a little trouble and I need you my friend. After the last chorus for the "its in the journey...." part just keep playing Cadd9 - - D. You'll hear it. have fun! :) |
