So this is the version from Lisa's Tiny Desk Concert (link to the video below) and I
figured out a way to play it lower if you're a dude like me and can't sing as high as she can!
Capo 2 (Positions relative to capo)
Intro (see fingering below) A, Asus repeat
Verse:
e------------------------------------|
B--------------2---------------------|
G--------2------------2--------2-----|
D-----------2--------------2---------|
A----0------------0------------------|
E------------------------------------|
Amaj
e-----------------------------|
B-----------------------------|
G------2-----2-----2-----2----|
D---------------4-------------|
A---------4-----------4-------|
E----2------------------------|
F#m
[ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/l/lisa-hannigan/300889.html ]
e----------------------|
B----------------------|
G----2----2----2---2---|
D-----------0----------|
A------2---------2-----|
E--1-------------------|
Not sure what chord this is. Maybe an inverted Amaj with an added something? I call it Asus.
The picking pattern is pretty easy for both chords.
I use my thumb and pointer finger and (high e being 1) pluck the strings:
For Amaj: 5-3-4-2-5-3-4-3
For F#m: 6-3-5-3-4-3-5-3
For the Asus: 6-3-5-3-4-3-5-3
Note that the pointer finger is staying constant on the higher note for each chord.
Chorus:
The chords for the chorus are Amaj, Emaj, Dmaj (hold the Dmaj for 2 bars).
The fingering for the chorus is the same as the verse with that alternating and
"stepping up and down" thumb-pointer-thumb-pointer pattern.
SUGGESTION:
I didn't particularly like Lisa's transition from the end of the chorus back in to the
verse (it's hard to follow on guitar as well) so I decided to walk it down like this:
A, E, D (2 bars), Dm (2 bars) then back into the A, Asus introduction.
