Intro riff - see tab

A D A
I didn't say we wouldn't hurt any more

that's how you learn - you jut get burned
A D A
We don't have to feel like dirt any more

Though love's not earned, baby, it's our turn
B5 Badd6 B5 Badda6 B5
We were always looking for too long
A5 Aadd6 A Aadd6 A
With our heads in the clouds, just a little off course
B5 Badd6 B5 Badd6 B5 A5
But I've left that motor running, now if you're feeling down and out
D E E/G# A B
Oh come on baby drive south, with the one you love
E E/G# A B
Oh come on baby drive south, with the one you love
I'm not talking about retreating, little girl
Gonna take our stand in this chevy bang
Windows open on the rest of the world
Holding hands all the way to dixie land
We've been trying to turn our lives around
Since we were little kids, it's been wearing us down
Don't turn away now darling, let's fire it up and wind it out
D A
And I heard your momma calling: I think she was just stalling
E5 B
Don't know who she was talking to - baby me and you?
D A
We can go down with a smile on; don't bother to pack your nylons
E5 B
Just keep those pretty legs showing - it gets hot down where we're going
E5
Better believe it babe!
We were always looking for too long
With our heads in the clouds, just a little off course
But I've left that motor running, so if you're feeling down and out
Come on baby drive south....

The following is the introductory acoustic guitar solo from the Budokan
version. Like the song itself, it's very banjo-like, facilitated by the
altered tuning. A melody line is played and intermingled with lots of droning
notes above it. I have notated the melody line, but not the flurry of open E
and B strings above it. I'm not too sure if I'm explained this very well, but
listen to the album and you should find it pretty straightforward- just a
matter of constantly bashing away at the E and B strings throughout: if it
doesn't come naturally, I doubt if a full tab would do any good. The
interlude is notated in the same manner.
