So I was fiddling around with my guitar and I love this song and wanted a way to play it on one guitar well and since I have an acoustic with me and am too lazy to pull out my electric, I feel I could post what I have as my tab/chords I use and others can tell me what they think or try it out. And yes, it won't be the same sound as the album version but with the tuning and such, it is easier for my voice to adapt to the song to slow it down and make it more my own. Standard Tuning: Capo on the 1st Fret Chords used: Cmaj7: X32003 Fmaj7: XX3210 Am: 002210 F: 133211 C: x32010 G: 320033 Em: 022000 You can make the strum pattern however you want but you can listen to the actual song if you want to a sense for timing and changing of chords. I play it a little slower and don't include a solo, yet I find doing the standard solo from the recording works well. Just listen along to the song to know when to change chords. Intro: Cmaj7 Verse 1: (all verses are the same as this, just adapt to the song) Cmaj7 What's wrong baby, Fmaj7 Don't they treat you like they should? Cmaj7 Did you take 'em for it? Fmaj7 Or every penny that you could? Pre-Chorus: Same when found in the song Am F We once walked out on the beach and once I almost touched your hand. C G Oh how I dreamed to finally say such things then only to pretend. [ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/j/jimmy-eat-world/337660.html ] Chorus: (Same for all and you can either play F instead of Fmaj7 but it follows the CD better to make it Fmaj7 but it still works if you just play an F) Fmaj7 G If you don't don't know, why'd you say so? Em F Would you mean this please if it happens? Fmaj7 G If you don't know, why would you say so? Em F Won't you get your story straight. Fmaj7 G If you don't know, honey, why'd you just say so? Em F Cause I need this now more than I ever did. Fmaj7 G If you don't, well, honey, then you don't. (Repeat Verse) Bridge: I just strum once x22002 and then x3300x and go back and forth until I either go back into the song or just play a solo that fits for the song. Verse Prechorus Chorus Outro: One strum each and let it ring C F C If you don't know, honey, honey, then you don't. If you want the pattern to put this all together if you don't like playing along to the music, here it is: Intro Verse Pre-Chorus Verse Pre-Chorus Chorus Verse Pre-Chorus Chorus Verse Pre-Chorus Chorus Bridge Optional Solo (I just usually strum a few chords to add effect since I play it at a slower tempo) Verse Pre-Chorus Chorus Outro Hope you enjoy this, I am still uncertain if my Cmaj7 is best for the verses but it works for me since I know the original is supposed to be (non-capo) xx6544. All suggestions appreciated! Happy playing! |
