This is an easy song if you don't play it right. If you want to play it just
like Jack Johnson, you'll have a little harder time, but you've looked up the
right tab. It's a little difficult, but I tried to make it as easy as possible
by putting in my own side notes and stuff. I'm positive that all of it is correct.
If I did make any mistakes, or anyone has suggestions, please email me. Now,
ay attention, you may be surprised.

These are all the parts to the song. If you listen to the music, you'll get the
hang of it and be able to put in the little quirks that Jack does. This is the
basic, but correct way to play. You can do a lot with it.
Here's the complete song, with the lyrics.
Intro: Intro Parts 1, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 2, 4
[ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/j/jack-johnson/32859.html ]
Verse 1:
(Repeat Verse Part 1 twice, then start singing)
(Verse Part 1 repeats until specified)
Lookin' at himself
And wishin' he was someone else
Because the posters on the wall
They don't look like him at all.
So he ties it up, he tucks it in
He pulls it back and gives a grin
Laughin' at himself
Because he knows he ain't loved at all.
He gets his
(Verse Part 2a)
Courage from the can
It makes him feel like a man
Because he's lovin' all the ladies
But the ladies don't love him at
(Verse Part 2b)
all.
And
(Verse Part 2a)
When he's not drunk
He's only stuck on himself
And then he has the nerve
To say he needs a decent
(Verse Part 2b)
Girl
Verse 2:
(Verse Part 1)
Lookin' at herself
And wishin' she was someone else
Because the body of the dolly
Don't look like hers at all
So she straps it on, she sucks it in,
She throws it up, and gives a grin,
Laughin' at herself
Because she knows she's ain't that at all.
(Verse Part 2a)
Caught up in the trends
Well, the truth began to bend
And the next thing you know, man
There just ain't no truth left at
(Verse Part 2b)
All.
'Cuz when the
(Verse Part 2a)
Pretty girl walks
She walks so proud
And when the pretty girl laughs
Oh man, she laughs so
(Verse Part 2b)
Loud.

Just like the other one,
Lookin' at himself and wishin'
He was someone else,
Because the

They don't uh look uh like uh him.

Laughin' at himself
Because he knows he ain't loved at all.
He knows he ain't loved at all.
Where he starts Verse Part 2b is difficult, so I'll just go through it.

-posters on the wall, they don't uh look uh like him.
And so on.
When I was learning this song, this part took me the longest. It's tough. Every
note is above the beginning of it's corresponding word, like you play the A string
on the 11th while you say "the". This part is perfect, I promise, and you can play
it just like Jack of you follow exactly.
Enjoy,
Todd
