THE PIANO CRISIS - Ennio Morrricone
- Featured in the film Seven Pounds
Hello everyone. This song is so moving... I'm pretty excited about this version. The
I laid it out has kind of a classical feel. Make sure you have good plucking technique.
all,
keep it 'krispy.'
Anyway, there was a bit of a problem. The little semitone thing that gives the
song its vulnerability
(i.e., 'bum... bum... BLANK... bum) does not sound as nice on a guitar as it does piano.
I'll include the option so you can decide for yourself.
This song has a lot of factors to it. I'm going to divide it up so it doesn't look so scary.
Okay. Here is the melody. It is centered around a D chord. Again, I've tabbed out the
note,' (the F on the D string) so you can use it if you want.
E|------0---2---5-------0---2---7-----|
B|--3---------------3-----------------|
G|----2---2---2---2---2---2---2---2---|
D|----------(2)-----------(2)---------|
A|------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------|
Now that you have learned the melody, you just need to play the baseline. Although
fingering might be a little awkward, the concept is pretty easy. It is just a step by
step walk down from D all the way to F. Each base note is played at the beginning of
each melody bit (except for the jump from F to E, but I'll get that later).
E|-----------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------|
D|--0--------------------------------|
A|-----4--2--1--0----------------0---|
E|-----------------4--3--2--1-0------|
I would just walk down that a couple of times while listening to the song to familiarize
yourself with the baseline.
Ok, back to the F to E thing... they are smashed together on purpose. You play them both
in the same melody bit. It will make more sense in the big tab.

This is 'the machine tab.' Base + melody. It's scary looking, but if you broke it down you
should be fine. Just work through it.

woo with this little piece.
Cheers,
