C/g means: C-chord with a G in the bass, listen to this song for the strumming and 
you will understand.

In the verses the second C/g chord switches to a C/c chord:

When 'and you clutched, kicking heels' starts it goes slightly different,
but I can't really figure it out. I think it's like this:

A tip: play the intro over and over again so the "infinite strumming" thing gets in your system.
