The picking shown is just a general idea, not an exact representation of the original part.
Interpret the picking as you wish; the fingering is the important part.

Riff 1:
D|-------0-------------0-------------0-------0-----------------0---------0--|
A|-----0---0---------0---0---------0-------0-----------0---------------0----|
G|---------------------------------------------------0-----0----------------|
D|-2h4-------4---2---------2---------------------------------0-----0h2------|
G|-----------------------------/7------6---------4--------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Riff 2:
D|-------0-------------0-------------0-------0-----------------0---------0--|
A|-----0---0---------0---0---------0-------0-----------0---------------0----|
G|---------------------------------------------------0-----0----------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------0--------------|
G|-2h4-------4--/6---------6---/7------6---------4-------------------2------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|

If you listen to the guitar in the verses, you'll notice a change in the bass notes.
That's where you switch from Riff 1 to Riff 2.

For example, the first verse is:
[ Tab from: http://www.guitaretab.com/b/barenaked-ladies/280112.html ]
Riff 1
Don't you know we lost?
Riff 1
Sunk so low, we just called it off
Riff 2
How an ordinary moment gets tossed
Riff 2
A more than ordinary woman's the cost

All verses follow the same progression: play Riff 1 twice, then Riff 2 twice.

Then, between the first two verses:

D5 G/B Gm/Bb D5/A

Then after the second verse:

   D5 G/B
 Believe me
   Gm/Bb D5/A
 Believe me
   D5 G/B
 Believe me
   Gm/Bb D5/A
 Believe me

D5 G/B
Have another look, another look around
Gm/Bb D5/A
 Have another look around
D5 G/B
Have another look, another look around
Gm/Bb D5/A
 Have another look around

Chorus:

             D5/A Em
 It's come undo-o-o-one
G/D D5/A
 Do-one
             D5/A Em
 It's come undo-o-o-one
G/D D5/A
 Do-one

Then after the first chorus comes the bridge:

D5 G/B
Have another look, another look around
Gm/Bb D5/A
 Have another look around
D5 G/B
Have another look, another look around
Gm/Bb D5/A
 Have another look around

The interlude before the last verse is just Riff 2 twice.

After the last chorus:

D5 G/B Gm/Bb D5/A
D5 G/B Gm/Bb D5/A

Just end on that last D5/A

And that's it.

For the record, I'm aware that the D5/A isn't really over an A. I just refer to it as
such for naming purposes; it's much quicker and easier to type "D5/A" than "D5 (2)".
